Head and Founder

After giving birth to my eldest daughter, Poppy, I decided to leave my career in the music business and prepare for parenthood by becoming a Montessori Teacher. Over 20 years ago and two more daughters later, Jemima and Sophie, I have never looked back! The sheer joy of being able to nurture a child's natural inquisitiveness and expand his/her horizons is so rewarding. In my spare time I enjoy relaxing with my family, going to the theatre, music, walking the family dog and looking after our two horses.

I set up Jelly Beans in 2004 and today I am delighted that we have grown the Jelly Beans family into a busy and popular Nursery.

Lisa Oxenham

HR/Office Manager

I have lived in Hockley for the past 15 years but recently moved out to the countryside of Stambridge. I have four children ranging from the age of 7 up to 23 years old. I achieved a Degree in European Business after leaving school and I have been working in education for the past 17 years in various roles including teaching, learning support, pastoral administration and more recently a PA within an Academy Trust. Outside of the office I am very involved with my local church as well as enjoying time with my family, friends and walking my border collie.

I’ve worked in childcare for over 17 years, in and around the Southend area and also in Peterborough and have recently achieved my Montessori Level 2 qualification. I’m a mum to 3 children, a son of 25 and 2 daughters of 21 and 19. I love spending time with my family and I'm a keen football fan with a season ticket to Southend United.

Melanie Bartlett

Deputy Manager

I joined Jelly Beans at the beginning of January 2018 after working for 10 years with Tumble Tots, during which time I studied and gained my Level 2 Childcare qualification. I have recently started studying for my Montessori teacher qualification.  I’m very excited to be part of the team and it’s been lovely getting to know the children and work with them each day. I live locally with my husband, daughter and two lively Jack Russell’s and enjoy spending time on family dog walks, cinema, going to the theatre and listening to music.

Suzanne Dawson

Early Years Practitioner and SENCO

I am a fully qualified NNEB level 3 and have been working in the child care sector since 1993.

I have always enjoyed assisting children of all ages to develop their potential and to naturally thrive in a educational setting.

I have experience of working alongside many a professionals to include health visitors, midwives, speech and language therapists to help develop children's development. I am an Early Years Practitioner and SENCO for the Day Nursery setting and look forward to working with children and staff alike. My current interests are charities such as Dogs Trust and I am also in my spare time a volunteer driver for the RSPCA and when I am not doing  this I enjoy spending time with my partner walking and exploring the great outdoors. I very much enjoy my role at Jelly Beans and thrive in achieving a high standard of Montessori education with a team who are very passionate about early years.

Ellie-Anne Woolley

Early Years Practitioner

Growing up as an only child led me to my current career path and love of children. I am a Level 3 qualified childcare practitioner based in the Santa Maria room. I love being able to watch the children grow and develop whilst at nursery. Currently I am studying for my Montessori Level 2 qualification where I am learning lots of valuable skills and look forward to putting these into practise. In my spare time I enjoy listening to music, meeting new people and travelling.

Demi Dawson

Apprentice Early Years Practitioner

I am an apprentice working towards getting my Level 2&3 Childcare qualifications. I have always wanted to work with children and am excited to be developing my knowledge and gaining experience each day. Outside of work I love to go on long walks with my partner and dogs and also love to spend time with family and friends.

Sasha Curtis

Room Leader

I knew from a very young age that I wanted a career working with children. Having qualified from college as a Level 3 practitioner, I immediately started work on a primary studies and child psychology degree with the Open University. In the future I would like to become a primary school teacher.  I am outgoing and love to learn new things. When I'm not studying I enjoy going out with friends, listening to music and going to the gym.
